Meet Richard Sloss

Richard Sloss is the owner of Epic Septic Southwest Kansas City, proudly serving the community he has called home his entire life. As a lifelong Kansas City native, Richard is passionate about providing exceptional service while building a business rooted in integrity, hard work, and strong relationships.

Before launching Epic Septic, Richard spent more than 15 years in the cybersecurity industry, serving as an account executive with GuidePoint Security, FishTech, and FireMon. In that role, he partnered with chief information officers, chief information security officers, and executive leadership teams at many of the nation's leading organizations to strengthen their security programs. Through hard work, curiosity, humility, and determination, he built a successful career and now manages a $40 million annual book of business.

Richard's entrepreneurial journey began long before cybersecurity. He previously owned and operated his family's waste management company, Sloss Systems, before successfully selling the business in 2011. That experience, combined with years of helping clients solve complex challenges, inspired him to return to business ownership and build something meaningful in the community he loves.

What sets Richard apart is his relationship-first approach. He believes trust is built through consistency, responsiveness, honest communication, and always following through on commitments. As a Kansas City native, he has developed lasting relationships throughout the community and is proud to serve the people of his hometown.

Richard comes from a family of entrepreneurs and always knew he wanted to build a business of his own. For him, Epic Septic represents an opportunity to create something his family can be proud of while creating opportunities for others. Over the next several years, his vision is to grow the business to $5 million in annual revenue, build a team of 20 employees, expand to multiple pumping and maintenance trucks, add a dedicated installation crew, and pursue future territory expansion.

When he is not working, Richard enjoys spending time with his wife of 12 years, Mary, and their two children, Ricky and Pearl. Whether he is grilling in the backyard, tackling yard work, reading, watching the Chiefs or Royals, cheering on WWE when it comes to Kansas City, or simply enjoying time with family, he appreciates everything that makes Kansas City special. The Sloss family is also proud to support Children's Mercy Hospital through Mercy Research Partners, helping give back to a community that has given them so much.

Richard wants every customer to know they can count on Epic Septic to go above and beyond. His goal is for every interaction to reflect superior service, attention to detail, and a team that genuinely cares about the people they serve.
